Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with us about Check Rail Corner on the A835 by Loch Garve and thanks especially to George Finlayson for his regular drone footage updates. So much clearer than my drive by passenger phone snaps!
This morning we contacted the Principle Engineer by email - about the lack of action, issues with phone lines, additional traffic lights being operated by Openreach in addition to those being used by Alba Traffic Management, and the state of the site visually and from a health and safety perspective.
We asked for a prompt response which we have now recieved which addressed some of the points rasied!
"Thank you for bringing the Openreach phone line issues to my attention. Openreach were doing work to transfer signals from the cables that run on the inside of the wall to their temporary diversion cables. I will ask them if they are aware of these issues to and request they avoid any further signal loss, should the site work be the source of the issues.
We have completed preliminary investigation and testing on site and submitted our design proposals to Network Rail. Unfortunately we are still awaiting their approvals before we access the railway, hence the lack of activity . We have programmed to begin work again this Saturday night however this is subject to Network Rail approval.
I will have the cones and fencing on site tidied by our Contractor as soon as possible. "
As always, we will keep you updated as we heard more news, all being well we should see more action in the coming days!
