Garve is the Gateway to the Wester Ross UNESCO Biosphere

WRB have emailed us today, 15th August and they are asking people who live and work across the Biosphere to share their views as part of its UNESCO 10 year Periodic Review.
The responses will help inform WRB's report to UNESCO and, importantly, help shape its future priorities and work over the next ten years.

Garve is the gateway to the Wester Ross UNESCO Biosphere, and it is hoped that a new gateway sign will soon help to make that connection even more visible to everyone travelling through our community. After meeting with Transport Scotland the 3rd and hopefully final revision on the sign design is underway!

For Wester Ross, this is an opportunity to look back at the changes the area has experienced over the past decade, consider the challenges and opportunities ahead, and help shape priorities for the next ten years.

A short survey has now been launched by WRB and everyone who lives or works within the Biosphere is encouraged to take part.

The survey asks about:

  • The changes you have seen in the area over the past ten years
  • The opportunities and challenges facing our communities
  • Your awareness of the Biosphere and its work
  • The priorities you believe should guide its work over the next decade
  • You don't need to be familiar with the work of the Biosphere to take part. Whether you have been closely involved with the Biosphere for years or have only recently heard about it, your views are important.

Have your say -

WRB ask folks to please complete the survey by 24 August 2026.

Please also share the survey with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues who live or work within the Biosphere.

The more voices that are heard, the better the future priorities of the Biosphere can reflect the views, needs and aspirations of the communities across Wester Ross.
