Digital ID - First Westminster Debate

Garve and District Community Council

Added at 10:54 on 22 October 2025

A debate took place in Westminster yesterday afternoon, 21st October 2025, in respect of the UK Govenment's intention to introduce a Digital ID scheme.
It has been widely said this is something that the current govenment did not have in their election manifesto and therefore have no mandate for it.
In less that 3 weeks almost 3 million people have signed a UK Government petition calling on the government 'Not to Introduce Digital ID'
This was the first debate in Westminster on this issue and was led by Scottish MP Pete Wishart.
